Drive Far
02:33
|
|||
In the car
My guitar
On the back seat
Gotta drive far
Hope I didn't wait too long
Think I got another song
Don't think about it too hard
Drive far
All alone
Lying prone
In the backyard
It's not my home
In the car
My guitar
On the back seat
Time to start
Hope I didn't wait too long
Think I got another song
Don't think about it too hard
Drive far
Walking 'round
On the grounds
With the honeybees
I hear the sound
Got off track
Time to look back
On where I'm from
Way back
Hope I didn't wait too long
Think I got a few more songs
Don't think about it too hard
Drive far
And sipping on God's own water
Got me feeling like a Goddess's daughter
In the car
My guitar
On the back seat
Drive far
Stay on track
There's no going back
Where I'm from
Fades to black

Pretty Little Bones
03:18
|
|||
How can I explain
The depth of what I feel
Looking at your pretty, little
Broken bones?
Yet when I close my eyes
I imagine them
Within your withered
...body
And I can hear the
Wind whistling through
Your ancient
...bones
And this, this is a circle
Birth, life, death, rebirth
How can I explain
The depth of what I feel
Looking at your pretty, little
Broken bones?
I can hear the
Wind whistling through
Your ancient
...bones
And I'm smiling now
And pursing my lips
To whistle along
The tune is timeless
The melody is stirring
Lyrics are pointless
'Cause everything is turning
How can I explain
The depth of what I feel
Looking at your pretty, little
Broken bones?

Forever Twice
03:09
|
|||
You're out the door
In a hail of bullets again
And I'm counting shards, sorting parts
I wipe my hands on my apron
And try
To remake my heart again
I could wait forever twice
I close my eyes
Hear the truth and my memories collide
I'm strumming chords, singing words
I wear my heart on my sleeve
Don't try
To interpret my feelings
I would wait forever twice
You only do
When your fear doesn't interfere
You're losing time, using mine
Regretting your failures
Instead
Of living your dreams
You will wait forever
The crystal ball
Doesn't know it all
Like when its going to fall
I'm out the door
Keep your hail of bullets, my friend
You count the shards, sort the parts
I've wiped my hands on my apron
I'm trying
To remake my heart
You will wait forever
I won't wait forever
Twice

Three In the Morning
03:01
|
|||
Three in the morning
Me and my guitar
Playing in the dark
Wishing you were next to me
Breathing the same air
Just like when you cared
And I dared
Four in the morning
Me and my guitar
Playing in the dark
Knowing where you ought to be
Sensing you're not there
Like when you knew I cared
And you dared
Five in the morning
Playing my guitar
Soon it won't be dark
Now I see the truth
Still I think of you
When you were mine
And I was yours

Cold is the morn, up before sun
Trunk is packed, by dawn we'll be gone
From Glasgow to Greenock today
Then 62 days from Scotland to Quebec
Praying for safe passage, that we don't have a wreck
Even when we get there it'll be another trek
We're the Ghosts of 1816
Just living was hard in those early days
First on the list lay a bridge across the Tay
Then start to build our town
Winters unforgiving, summer didn't always come
Relying on our instincts and help from the First Nations
Don't know just how we did it with so much to overcome
We're the Ghosts of 1816
Over many a year, two centuries
What have we found here after cutting back the trees?
A people both fine and good
Culture rich and playful, we produced the Mammoth Cheese
Distilleries and breweries, farms and factories
Some of us are working in the arts community
We're all Ghosts of 1816
Traditions we share
Festivals and fairs
Draw us near
Keep us happily here
First moments of morn, what's that sound in my ear?
It's 2016 ringing in loud and clear
History has turned another page
Two hundred years behind us and plenty more to go
If time has taught us anything we're only going to grow
Remembering the stories of old times high and low
Thank you Ghosts of 1816
We're the Ghosts of 1816

Brown eyed and blue skied
"My people," you cried
That's right, girl, your kind
Maybe here is where you'll find
Your mythical twin
Sweet, searching Gemini Child
Oh, the skies were blue
We danced with you
When the rains came down
You didn't even frown
Grinnin' and spinnin'
You soaked it all in
Reelin' and feelin'
The first turn of the wheel
Brown eyed and blue skied
"My people," you cried
That's right, girl, your kind
Maybe here is where you'll find
Your mythical twin
Sweet, searching Gemini Child
Though it's a pretty long drive
We're feeling so alive
With my girls in the car
It don't seem half as far
Livin' and laughin'
We're almost there
Clappin' and clownin'
The wheels turnin' 'round
Every year
You gotta volunteer
Do good work with your hands
Before you listen to bands
Then it's campfirin'
All night long
Strummin' and singin'
Everyone's song
Brown eyed and blue skied
"My people," you cried
That's right, girl, your kind
Maybe here is where you'll find
Your mythical twin
Sweet, searching Gemini Child
Three days transcend
Another Blue Skies ends
Though from friends we must part
They're gonna stay in our hearts
Bye-byin' and cryin'
It's time to go
Huggin' and holdin'
This wheel's gotta roll
Then came the year
No one could have guessed
The whole damn world
Was in an awful mess
So sad no Blue Skies
But if anyone asks
We stayed home
And tie-dyed our masks
Brown eyed and blue skied
"My people," you cried
That's right, girl, your kind
Maybe here is where you'll find
Your mythical twin
Sweet, searching Gemini Child
Well maybe next year
Or maybe another
We'll get to come back
And see all of eachother
Blue Skiesin' and jivin'
Like we used to do
Learnin' and yearnin'
For the wheel's next turn
Brown eyed and blue skied
"My people," you cried
That's right, girl, your kind
Maybe here is where you'll find
Your mythical twin
Sweet, searching Gemini Child

Ghosts and Skeletons
02:20
|
|||
I've got ghosts and skeletons
They teach me all of my best lessons
I've got skeletons in the closet
I've got so many goddamn skeletons
That my skeletons
Have got their own ghosts
Once I was a little girl
Didn't have a single care in the world
You can only stay a kid for so long
Before you start seeing all that is wrong
I've got skeletons in the closet
I've got so many goddamn skeletons
That my skeletons
Have got their own ghosts
You go from trusting everyone
And everything under the sun
You only need to get burnt once or twice
To learn that everybody ain't always nice
One time it was me who could have been nicer
I might have even been a little enticer
The grass was green and definitely better
Still a choice that would haunt me forever
I've got skeletons in the closet
I've got so many goddamn skeletons
That my skeletons
Have got their own ghosts

Little Bottles
02:43
|
|||
Little bottles
Of coloured water
On the window sill
Rainbows on the wall
Day by day
The water evaporates
Away
Outside watering
Little garden
On the sunny side
O - how we tried!
I've let it go
Was it all for show?
I don't know
How long
'Til I see you again?
I'm counting days
As the water goes down
Creek sound doesn't reach my ears
Hasn't been this dry in years
I couldn't cry for weeks
Now I feel it on my cheeks
Don't look in the mirror
You'll see eyes the same colour
Let tears pour
How long
'Til I see you again?
I'm counting days
As the water goes down
Little bottles
Of coloured water
On the window sill
Rainbows on the wall
Day by day
The water evaporates
Away

Indigo
03:36
|
|||
You are the dark blue
In the bootcut jeans that always
Remind me of you
Indigo
Never goes it just
Bonds to the fibres
You told me once that
Being with me made you want to
Be a better man
But that just don't work when
Being with you makes me want to be
Bad
I am cracked and
We got it backwards
And the odds are stacked and
We gotta back this up
Always worried that I judge you to be
The very worst kind of
Man
But that's just not true when
Gauging myself is the
Only judgement I do
Indigo
Indigo
Why don't you go?
You said to me that you'd
Have me for your bride and you'd
Father our
Child
But I just pushed for proof that
You wouldn't come through and
I was right
I am cracked and
We got it backwards
And the odds are stacked and
We gotta back this up
Indigo
Indigo
Why don't you go?

Dead Wrong
02:45
|
|||
Hey, do you know what's real?
Wasn't a big deal (but)
You know you could have had my heart
Wish you'd taken time to heal
'Stead of turning into steel
We could have had a better start
Dead wrong
You're long gone
Now
Did you think we needed more?
Did you want to close the door?
Or did you just need a break?
Did something deep in your core
Become too much of a chore
And it was more than you could take?
Dead wrong
You're long gone
Now
Dead wrong
Long gone
Now
Hey, did you hear them say
All those things today?
I hope you know how they feel
I hope it wouldn't change
What you did today
'Cause you can't turn back that wheel
Dead wrong
You're long gone
