Trunk is packed, by dawn we'll be gone
From Glasgow to Greenock today

Then 62 days from Scotland to Quebec
Praying for safe passage, that we don't have a wreck
Even when we get there it'll be another trek

Just living was hard in those early days
First on the list lay a bridge across the Tay
Then start to build our town

Winters unforgiving, summer didn't always come
Relying on our instincts and help from the First Nations
Don't know just how we did it with so much to overcome

Over many a year, two centuries
What have we found here after cutting back the trees?
A people both fine and good

Culture rich and playful, we produced the Mammoth Cheese
Distilleries and breweries, farms and factories
Some of us are working in the arts community
